What’s new with the Morningstar Sustainability Rating for funds ("globe" rating)?"

We’ve retooled our Sustainability Rating to help users better gauge the risk a fund portfolio could face from environmental, social, and governance factors. Our new Sustainability Rating rates the overall ESG risk in a fund portfolio relative to its peer group. We think this will be more useful for users who seek to understand and manage the ESG implications of their investments. You can find the new rating on the Portfolio tab of fund and exchange-traded fund Quote pages on Morningstar.com in November.

How we make money

Our investment management business generates asset-based fees, which are calculated as a percentage of assets under management. We also sell both admissions and sponsorship packages for our investment conferences and advertising on our websites and newsletters.

How we approach editorial content
