(Update as of 4:00 pm CDT) Stocks ended the day higher on Friday, with the Morningstar US Market Index rising 1.6%, led by gains in basic materials stocks.

All 11 stock sectors ended the day higher. Gains were led by basic materials, up 3.6%, and industrials, up 3.2%.

The Morningstar Style Box also closed up across the board. Small value stocks led the way with a 4.5% increase while large growth trailed the rest of the style box with a 1.1% gain.

Tesla was the most-actively traded stock as of Friday’s close, gaining 3.1%, to $213.97 per share. Among other actively traded stocks, AT&T was down 3.8%, to $15.21, Palantir Technologies was down 0.1% to $14.52, and Bank of America Corp was up 3.4% to $28.71.
