Summary

Transamerica Small/Mid Cap Value’s seasoned subadvisors and their differentiated approaches to value investing still make this strategy attractive despite recent performance challenges. Transamerica advises this multimanager small- and mid-cap strategy, maintaining roughly 60% of assets in the mid-cap portion and 40% in the small-cap segment. Both sleeves are run by strong, experienced subadvisors. Veteran investor Brett Hawkins of Thompson, Siegel & Walmsley has led the mid-cap sleeve since 2016, supported by his comanager Michael Creager. Tenured lead manager Ken Burgess of Systematic Financial Management has headed the small-cap sleeve since 2011, and he currently works alongside comanagers Ryan Wick and newly promoted Rick Plummer. Both subadvisor teams have extensive track records in their respective areas of expertise, successfully running their strategies in separate accounts for over 20 years.
