The Week Ahead: Walmart, Home Depot, Cisco Report

Jeremy Glaser: Earnings seasons is mostly behind us, but we will get a few reports this week.

Walmart is due on Thursday. Analyst Zain Akbari views shares of the wide-moat retailer are fairly valued and thinks the firm will be able to stand up to a competitive retail environment over time.

Home Depot had risen more than 30% over the last year and looks somewhat overvalued today. A late spring led to somewhat disappointing results last quarter, but Jaime Katz thinks the firm is still on track to hit its full-year outlook.

Cisco reports on Wednesday. Analyst Mark Cash says the firm remains the only one-stop-shop networking vendor but faces risks as more customers move into the cloud. He sees shares as slightly overvalued today.

Retail sales, housing starts, and the University of Michigan consumer sentiment gauge are also on tap.

Stay tuned for our take on these stories.
