Sanjay Arya, CFA, is the head of innovation at Morningstar Indexes where he leads product strategy. With over 30 years of experience, he specializes in developing data-driven solutions, analytics, and rules-based investment strategies.
Arya joined Morningstar in 1993, where he has contributed to Data Strategy and Research. He was also an early pioneer of strategic beta strategies, blending active and passive approaches. He is a frequent speaker at industry forums and a recognized thought leader, contributing to major publications and books.
As the founder of Morningstar Indexes, Arya has played a key role in creating a diverse range of equity, bond, commodity, and multi-asset indexes. More recently, he led the innovation of private market indexes, laying the foundation for the first index-linked investment product in this space.
Arya holds a bachelor’s in chemical engineering from Panjab University and an MBA from Cleveland State University.
