Led by Touring Capital, the round funds Clark's push toward fully autonomous audit employees and its mission to verify the economy in real time

NEW YORK, Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Clark, which builds AI for the professionals who verify the economy, today launched Clerks, autonomous AI employees that perform audit work for CPA firms. The company also announced an $11 million seed round led by Touring Capital, with participation from returning investors Marathon Management Partners, Rerail and Sofeon Ventures. Together with the $5 million round Marathon Management Partners led in September 2025, the financing brings Clark's total funding to $16 million.

Every economy runs on claims most people can never check for themselves: that revenue was earned, that retirement contributions were deposited, that public money reached the people it was meant for. Since the railway era, independent auditors have made it possible to rely on accounts kept by someone else. But an audit opinion still arrives as a snapshot of a year that has already ended, and it travels much further than the work behind it.

That gap is widening. AI has made invoices, records and even an executive's voice cheaper to fake than ever, while an answer that was right in March can be wrong by June. Clark's mission is to make it possible to verify the economy in real time, with findings that stay current because the checking never stops.

The opportunity reaches well beyond today's audits. The U.S. Government Accountability Office estimates the federal government loses $233 billion to $521 billion a year to fraud, and most audits of public money arrive after it has been spent. As AI makes verification continuous and affordable, CPA firms will be able to offer new audit services that catch fraud and waste in government programs and businesses while a payment can still be stopped or recovered.

Clerks are the first step toward that future. Each Clerk is assigned to an engagement the way a staff auditor would be and works through audit areas from start to finish: reviewing documents, performing tests and preparing workpapers. When something is missing, it requests it from the client, tracks the response and picks the work back up the moment the information arrives, without anyone prompting it again.

Clerks run on Material Intelligence, the AI operating system Clark built to serve as their brain. It combines an agent harness, document processing and a multi-layered memory system modeled on human memory, so a Clerk carries context forward the way an experienced auditor does. Routine updates are handled quietly, and what deserves an auditor's attention is escalated with the evidence attached. Licensed CPAs make the professional judgments, review the work and sign the opinion.

More than 35 CPA firms, including CliftonLarsonAllen, Aprio, Kreischer Miler, Sensiba, already use Clark on their audits. Clark measures success not by how many alerts its AI produces, but by how much time auditors no longer spend chasing documents, and how much more they spend on the questions that deserve their judgment.

"For as long as people have kept accounts, someone has had to check them. Today that checking happens once a year, long after the decisions it was meant to inform," said Enes Witwit, founder and CEO of Clark. "Our Clerks don't sleep. They stay on the engagement, chase what's missing and keep the work moving between the moments an auditor looks at it. Today they work alongside auditors. We are building toward fully autonomous audit employees, and toward an economy whose claims are verified as they happen, so fraud and waste are caught while the money is still there."

"Assurance is fundamentally a trust business, and AI creates an opportunity to dramatically expand what CPA firms can accomplish without compromising that trust," said Priya Saiprasad, co-founder and general partner at Touring Capital. "Clark's Clerks don't wait to be asked. They carry an engagement forward on their own, coordinating with clients and acting as new information arrives. We believe this is the foundation of an entirely new operating model for assurance."

Clark also stands behind the work its AI performs. The company offers CPA firms a 100% accuracy guarantee and a peer review guarantee. "A promise of accuracy only means something when it has money behind it," Witwit said. "If AI is going to do the work, the company that built it should answer for it."

Clark will use the funding to expand its senior team across product, engineering and sales, bring Clerks to more firms and more types of engagements, help CPA firms extend their audit services into government, and build toward fully autonomous audit employees. The company is also working toward continuous monitoring that keeps findings current between audits, with each finding stating what it covers and when it was last checked. The goal is for a firm to tell its client, a regulator or the public not just what was true at year-end, but what is true now.
