BEDFORD, N.H., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Bold Laser Automation has introduced the 3DS0948TS First Article Measurement Platform, an automated inspection system designed to provide high-resolution dimensional measurement of precision cylindrical components used in medical device manufacturing and other high-precision industries.

The turnkey platform combines a Keyence LJ-X8000 Series 2D/3D laser profiler with Bold's proprietary (patent pending) V-Cascade™ Rotary Indexing Fixture to automate first article inspection (FAI) of patterned stainless-steel tubes and similar cylindrical products. The integrated system captures detailed surface profile data while maintaining precise part positioning and rotational accuracy, enabling repeatable measurement and comprehensive quality documentation.

"Manufacturers are increasingly looking for inspection systems that do more than simply verify dimensions. They want reliable data that can help improve quality, streamline production, and support continuous improvement," said Todd E. Lizotte, Co-founder and CEO of Bold Laser Automation.

"By automating the measurement process from part loading through data collection and report generation, this system reduces the amount of manual inspection while providing consistent, repeatable results. It also creates digital inspection records that can be easily tracked and used for quality and production analysis," he added.

Bold's V-Cascade™ Rotary Indexing Fixture is engineered specifically for precision cylindrical components. The self-centering fixture distributes loads across cascading V-grooves, minimizing deflection while providing smooth, vibration-resistant rotation. This mechanical design improves alignment and measurement repeatability throughout the inspection.

The modular platform is suitable for production environments as well as laboratory applications and is constructed on an industrial aluminum superstructure with integrated controls built to NFPA 79, OSHA, IEC, and ISO industrial standards.

Key Features

  • Automated First Article Inspection (FAI) for precision cylindrical components
  • High-resolution 2D/3D laser scanning using Keyence LJ-X8000 Series technology
  • V-Cascade™ Rotary Indexing Fixture for stable, repeatable tube positioning
  • Precision motorized indexing with 1-micron encoder feedback
  • Automatic Z-axis focus adjustment for multiple tube diameters
  • Integrated QA/QC reporting and production data collection
  • Barcode integration for product traceability
  • Local and remote data storage for manufacturing analytics
