Built-in Folio 0.4.0 adds an instant sample conversation, richer publishing, retro layouts and related editions—advancing a loop from private work to public discovery and new collaboration.
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Intersignal LLC today announced the public test release of Braid Archangel 1.9.4, its free application for connecting local AI work across approved computers and turning selected conversations into public editions.
The release makes Braid easier to experience from the first launch. A new "Try a sample conversation" option opens a fictional conversation in Folio, Braid's built-in publishing studio. Users can select passages, edit an article, review it and export a webpage without installing a model or connecting a second computer.
Braid 1.9.4 also develops Intersignal's public discoverability loop thesis: useful work created privately with local AI can become a public entry point for readers, collaborators and future conversations.
The intended loop is straightforward:
Local work → reviewed public edition → discovery → new collaboration → the next edition.
Folio exports ordinary webpages that users can host on their own sites. Once published, those editions can be found through search, shared links and connections between related publications. Where a publisher enables Braid invitations, a reader can request permission to continue the conversation. Publishers retain approval over new connections and the scope of sharing.
The thesis extends beyond publishing a transcript. An edited research note, tutorial or essay can help someone discover the people and ideas behind it. That encounter can lead to further work—and another public edition that gives the next reader a place to begin.
New capabilities in Braid 1.9.4 include:
- An immediate first experience. The fictional sample demonstrates selection, editing, formatting and export using no real conversation or private workspace data.
- More expressive Folio editions. Folio 0.4.0 adds Editorial and Retro layouts, formatted text, tables, code blocks and locally attached images. An optional Classic HTML export uses a conservative set of older HTML and CSS features without required scripts.
- Connections between publications. Authors can add related-edition links, giving readers a deliberate path into other published work. Byline, sharing-description and license fields provide additional context.
- Reading previews. Desktop, tablet, phone and print previews help authors review the edition before exporting it.
- Clearer handoff progress. Braid presents separate evidence for Sent, Received, Accepted and Available to chat, with guidance for connection, permission and indexing problems.
Human review remains central to the workflow. Authors choose what appears publicly, edit excerpts while preserving their private originals, and explicitly approve the exact edition before export. Changes to public content require renewed approval. Excluded passages and private source records remain outside the exported publication.
Braid 1.9.4 includes Folio 0.4.0 and source code in one download. The public test package provides a self-contained Apple silicon Mac application and Windows/Linux launchers requiring Python 3.10–3.13. Local chat uses the user's own Ollama models; Folio publishing requires no model.
