Four-star recognition underscores Mercury's strength across financial performance, innovation, workplace excellence and sustainability
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Mercury Insurance (NYSE/NYSE TX: MCY) has been named one of America's Greatest Companies 2026 by Newsweek, earning a four-star rating in a nationwide evaluation of leading U.S. companies based on financial leadership, innovation, performance as an employer, and sustainability.
Unlike a traditional numbered "Top 100" style ranking, America's Greatest Companies 2026 recognizes 650 U.S. companies that earned five-, 4.5- or four-star ratings. Mercury earned four stars based on its performance across the study's broad range of business and workplace measures.
"Great companies aren't built around a single strength. They endure because the pieces reinforce one another," said Gabriel Tirador, Chief Executive Officer of Mercury General Corporation. "Financial discipline gives you the freedom to invest. Innovation helps you adapt. A strong workplace attracts people who can turn good ideas into better outcomes. Exceptional customer service turns all of that work into something meaningful for the people who count on you. When those things work together over time, you create an organization capable of delivering through changing markets and changing expectations. That is what makes this recognition so meaningful to everyone at Mercury."
Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group conducted the study using extensive employee research along with financial, innovation, sustainability and third-party performance data. The 2026 evaluation included more than 2.7 million company reviews from more than 179,000 employees collected between April and October 2025. Results from three previous studies conducted between 2022 and 2024, encompassing more than 4.9 million additional reviews from more than 400,000 respondents, were also incorporated at a reduced weight.
The evaluation examined multiple dimensions of company performance. Financial measures included revenue growth, profitability, shareholder returns and investment in innovation. Employer performance considered factors such as company culture, compensation and benefits, job security and stability, training and career progression, working environment and work-life balance. Innovation was assessed using patent and research data, while sustainability performance incorporated independent third-party assessments.
The methodology also included SEC and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office filings, third-party data and a review of public records and media coverage. Plant-A Insights Group and Newsweek's editorial team conducted final validation of the results before companies were selected for recognition.
Mercury's recognition as one of America's Greatest Companies 2026 adds to a growing list of independent honors for the company, providing further validation of Mercury's long-term financial strength, culture of innovation, strong workplace and commitment to delivering exceptional value and service to customers.
