Palantir Slides
On Monday, Palantir reported 96% revenue growth for the third quarter and profit that more than doubled from a year earlier. The company even raised its full-year guidance.
Chief Executive Alex Karp described the momentum as "unmatched in recent economic history."
So why did its shares close down 1.7% on Tuesday?
Worries about Palantir's ability to keep up its breakneck pace of growth and justify its $400 billion-plus valuation. Palantir said it struck deals worth $2.9 billion in the quarter, down from $3.4 billion in the prior quarter.
"We believe the debate is increasingly about sustaining acceleration against a larger base, rather than whether underlying demand remains strong," said Jefferies analyst Brent Thill.

Graphic
Packaging Soars
A beaten-down stock is bouncing back on better-than-expected earnings. The report, from Graphic Packaging, tripped up traders who were positioned for more bad news from the paper-packaging giant.
Graphic topped Wall Street's sales and profit expectations and signaled that a cascade of worrying news might be reversing. Shares shot up 21% in response.
Graphic's stock remains more than 25% lower than it was a year ago, when bad news began to pile up for the firm.
The construction budget ballooned by more than 60% at its recycled-boxboard plant in Waco, Texas. The CFO left, followed by the CEO. Investors battled over his replacement. Forecasts were slashed.
Analysts say they are uncertain if Graphic's efforts to cut costs will continue to be enough to offset inflation.
