U.K. Net Financing Requirement Projected at 258.6 Billion Pounds in 2026-27

By Miriam Mukuru

The U.K. Debt Management Office's net financing requirement is forecast to be 258.6 billion pounds ($344.1 billion) in 2026-27, up 7.4 billion pounds from April's estimate.

This will be financed by 250.6 billion pounds in outright gilt sales, including planned green gilt sales of 12 billion pounds, and a net contribution to debt financing from Treasury bills of 8 billion pounds, it said Wednesday.

The DMO's financing remit has been published as part of the U.K. government's budget announcements.

The planned gilt sales of 250.6 billion pounds will be met through 169.1 billion pounds of issuance in 47 auctions, 54.1 billion pounds via syndications, 14.9 billion pounds from an initially unallocated portion of issuance, and 12.6 billion pounds in gilt tenders, the DMO said.

It plans seven syndicated transactions, aiming to raise 46.3 billion pounds via conventional gilts in five transactions and 7.8 billion pounds in index-linked gilts in two transactions.

In the current 2026-27 fiscal year, planned gilt sales are set to reach 250.6 billion pounds, from 246.2 billion pounds at the April gilt remit, the DMO said.
