Waymo to Launch Autonomous Ride-Hailing Services in Madrid
By Mauro Orru
Waymo said it planned to make its fully autonomous ride-hailing services available in the Madrid region next year.
Alphabet's self-driving car unit said it would initially deploy its vehicles on the streets of the region in the coming days, starting with manual driving before testing vehicles' autonomous capabilities with trained specialists behind the wheel.
The company said a phased approach would help it ensure that its vehicles adapt to the region's traffic patterns and road conditions. It aims to welcome its first riders in 2027.
