Galp Energia and Equinor Get Offshore Brazilian Oil Block

By Adam Whittaker

Portugal's Galp Energia and Norway's Equinor have been awarded an offshore oil block in Brazil's Santos Basin.

Galp said late Wednesday that it will own a 30% stake in the Rodocrosita block with Equinor owning the remainder and acting as operator.

The company said that under the agreement it can explore future synergies with the adjacent Bacalhau project, where it and Equinor also own stakes.

Production at Bacalhau is ramping up and will contribute around 40,000 barrels a day to Galp once its output plateaus.
