Helmerich & Payne Forecasts Strong 4Q Results, Continued Momentum Next Year

By Connor Hart

Helmerich & Payne said it expects to report strong fourth-quarter results, with direct margins at or near the high end of the company's guidance range across its principal operating segments.

"The performance of our International Solutions segment is particularly notable, as we expect to report direct margins of around $45 million during the quarter," Chief Executive Trey Adams said Wednesday.

In terms of activity, the drilling-rig operator said average rig count across its North American Solutions segment is projected to be near the high-end of its previously issued outlook. Average rig count across both the company's International Solutions and Offshore Solutions businesses is anticipated to be near the midpoint of its outlook, respectively.

Looking ahead, Helmerich & Payne maintains a constructive outlook, expecting stronger direct margins next year thanks to encouraging customer discussions and contracting activity across the company's portfolio.

"We remain convinced that recent market volatility reinforces the importance of energy security and reliable supply while presenting a unique opportunity for H&P to deliver high-performance drilling solutions across our global portfolio," Adams said.

Separately, Helmerich & Payne on Wednesday said it would expand deployment of its FlexRobotics technology with ExxonMobil, marking what it called a milestone in the companies' continuing collaboration to advance drilling automation, enhance safety and improve operational performance.
