Materials Up as Dollar Falls — Materials Roundup
Producers of metals, grains and other raw materials rose as the U.S. dollar gave back some of its recent gains against rivals.
French bond yields eased, alleviating concerns about budget trouble and unrest and allowing the euro to stabilize. Gold futures, which are particularly sensitive to foreign-exchange shifts, rose $30.80, or 0.75%, to $4159.20 a troy ounce.
Norwegian aluminum and energy firm Norsk Hydro warned that fourth-quarter earnings would take a hit from gas supply challenges at its alumina refinery in Brazil.
