U.S. Corn Export Sales Exceed Forecasts
By Kirk Maltais
Export sales of U.S. corn beat analyst forecasts for the week ended Sept. 3, according to data from the Department of Agriculture.
In its weekly export sales report published Friday, the USDA said corn export sales for the 2026/27 marketing year totaled 1.93 million metric tons. That's over the high end of forecasts from analysts surveyed by The Wall Street Journal, who placed sales between 700,000 tons and 1.7 million tons.
Soybean sales landed on the high side of analyst forecasts for the week, at 2.64 million tons for 2026/27. Wheat sales for the week were 194,200 tons, which landed below the range of forecasts from surveyed analysts.
CBOT grain futures are lower in premarket trading, ahead of Friday afternoon's monthly WASDE report from the USDA. Most-active corn futures are down 0.7%, soybeans are down 0.8% and wheat slides 0.3%.
