T1 Energy Shares Rise on $120 Million Convertible Notes Sale
By Doc Louallen
Shares of T1 Energy rose after the company said it will sell $120 million of convertible notes in a private offering.
Shares were recently up about 14% at $4.26 in late morning trading. The stock is down about 36% year to date.
The notes pay 4.75% interest and come due on August 1, 2031. They can be turned into T1 stock at the holder's choice under certain conditions, at an initial rate equal to about $4.46 a share, which T1 said is a 20% premium to the last closing price.
The energy solutions provider said the offering is expected to close July 31. The company plans to use the proceeds to help fund equipment and construction for Phase 1 of its G2 Austin solar cell factory and for general corporate purposes. T1 described the notes as a bridge to a larger financing package, including debt, to complete Phase 1.
