Bosch in $225 Million Agreement With U.S. Department of Commerce for Roseville Facility

By Grace Yoon

Bosch said it entered an agreement to receive up to $225 million in direct funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce to support the company's up to $2 billion investment in transforming its Roseville facility.

The funding will be used to develop the Roseville site for the production of silicon carbide semiconductors, the technology and services company said.

Bosch North America Chief Executive Paul Thomas said the agreement will allow Bosch to deliver more localized, U.S. based manufacturing. He added the production of silicon carbide chips domestically will support supply chain resiliency and capitalize on the expertise of U.S. manufacturing associates.

The company said it plans to invest up to $7.5 billion over the next five years across its operations in the U.S..

Bosch also said it began sample production in Roseville and intends to produce its first commercial production chips on 200-millimeter wafers in 2026.
