Chevron, ZL Chemicals Enter Chemical-Tech Licensing Deal

By Grace Yoon

Chevron's domestic technical-center unit and ZL Chemicals said they finalized a technology-licensing agreement that allows ZL to commercialize Chevron-developed chemical-surfactant technology.

Energy company Chevron has developed surfactant technology to improve resource recovery in unconventional reservoirs, the companies said. The agreement allows for broader commercial use of the technology.

Under the agreement, ZL, an oil-and-gas supply and technology company, will commercialize and market products and services under the Vantis brand, which is set to support applications in enhanced oil-recovery programs and new well-optimization efforts in shale and tight reservoirs.

ZL President Echo Liu said ZL is positioned to deliver the technology as a scalable, turnkey service from lab evaluation to field execution.
