Hyundai Recalls Vehicles Whose Front-Camera Software May Cause Unexpected Braking

Hyundai is recalling a group of vehicles over concerns that forward-collision avoidance systems may prematurely activate and unexpectedly apply the brakes due to software in the front cameras.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Association said unexpected braking increases the risk of a crash.

The recall covers more than 421,000 vehicles, including 2025 and 2026 Santa Cruz, Tucson, Tucson Hybrid and Tucson Plug-In Hybrid Electric models.

Dealers will update the front camera software free of charge, the NHTSA said.
