China Adds Seven European Companies to Export Control List
By Tracy Qu
China's commerce ministry added seven European entities to an export-control list, citing national security reasons.
The move bars Chinese exporters from shipping dual-use items that could have both civilian and military purposes to the named firms.
The ministry announced the move on Friday, saying it takes effect immediately.
Among the companies named in the statement were Belgian weapons manufacturers FN Herstal and FN Browning, German defense company Hensoldt, and Czech company Omnipol, which specializes in high-tech defence and security technologies.
Exporters will need to seek Chinese authorities' approval if they still want to sell to companies on the export-control list, the statement said.
