Thermo Fisher 4Q Profit Rises as Biopharma Spending Rebounds

By Nicholas G. Miller

Thermo Fisher reported higher fourth-quarter profit and revenue as biopharmaceutical research spending bounces back following a pause early last year.

The company posted net income of $1.96 billion, or $5.21 a share, up from $1.83 billion, or $4.78 a share, the year prior.

Adjusted earnings were $6.57 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet expected $6.45 a share.

Revenue rose 7% to $12.21 billion. Wall Street expected $11.95 billion.

Analysts have said that while uncertainty around tariffs and drug pricing hurt biopharmaceutical research spending earlier last year, the environment improved by the end of 2025, which is a boost to life sciences companies like Thermo Fisher.

The pharmaceutical industry has received better visibility through deals with the Trump administration while the Food and Drug Administration has approved a significant number of new drugs.
