Blackstone Says It Won't Make an Offer for Big Yellow

By Anthony O. Goriainoff

Blackstone said it had no intention of making an offer for self-storage company Big Yellow Group after discussions broke down.

The real estate investor on Friday said the decision comes after Big Yellow announced that there wasn't any basis to continue takeover negotiations with Blackstone.

Big Yellow said late Thursday that it was terminating the discussions after Blackstone Europe provided an update to its board over a possible offer as well as the valuation at which it could make a proposal. The board said that it had considered the proposal in the context of its strong performance, strategy and business model.
