U.S. Futures, European Stocks Drop

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.5% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.4%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 declined 0.3% in morning trading. Fresnillo rose 3.3% and Greggs climbed 2.4%. On the other hand, Renk Group lost 4.2%, and Hensoldt dropped 3.7%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.1%. Other stocks in Europe were down as France's CAC 40 decreased 0.5% and Germany's DAX dropped 0.6%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index dropped 0.1% to 96.74.

In commodities, Brent crude rose 1.8% to $63.51 a barrel, and WTI crude gained 2% to $59.73 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 1.4% to 28.42 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 3 basis points to 2.719% from 2.692%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 2 basis points to 4.042% from 4.018%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index dropped 1.9%, whereas Hong Kong's Hang Seng climbed 0.7%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 0.7%.
