Woodside Energy Signs Up Williams as Investor in Louisiana LNG Project
By David Winning
SYDNEY--Woodside Energy has agreed to sell equity in the holding company that runs its Louisiana LNG project and a separate business that owns the pipeline to the U.S. facility to energy infrastructure operator Williams.
Woodside said Williams is paying some US$378 million, which includes a share of capital spent on the project since the start of January. The headline purchase price is US$250 million.
Williams is acquiring a 10% interest in Louisiana LNG, securing rights to a proportionate amount of liquefied natural gas produced by the facility when it comes online. It is also buying an 80% stake in Driftwood Pipeline and will become the operator of that business.
"This is Williams's first investment in LNG and its participation in Louisiana LNG is a testament to the quality of the project," said Woodside Chief Executive Meg O'Neill.
Woodside said Williams will contribute its share of capital expenditure for the LNG facility and pipeline, totaling some US$1.9 billion.
