Colorado Authority to Sell $125 Million of Bonds for Hospital Expansion Projects

By Patrick Sheridan

The Colorado Health Facilities Authority plans to sell $125 million of bonds to help pay for expansion projects at Craig Hospital in Englewood.

The securities will be issued in two tranches, according to documents posted Thursday on MuniOS. The authority will sell $105 million of Series 2025 A Hospital Revenue Bonds and $20 million of Series 2025 B debt.

Pricing is expected as early as Oct. 21, with closing tentatively set for Nov. 12.

Interest on the bonds is payable semiannually starting on Dec. 1, and again on June 1.

The bonds are backed by payments made by Craig Hospital under a loan agreement with the authority. Craig Hospital has pledged all revenue, income, and money received from its operations and other sources to repay the debt.

Money from the sale will be used to finance the addition of a fourth and fifth floor to Craig Hospital's East Building for additional inpatient beds, and expand the West Building to provide for an additional gymnasium and clinician office space.

A portion of the proceeds will also be used to refund some previously issued bonds and pay issuance costs.

Craig Hospital is a rehabilitation hospital that exclusively specializes in therapy and research for individuals with spinal cord or brain injuries.

S&P Global Ratings has issued an A- ratings on the bonds.

RBC Capital Markets is the underwriter on the offering.
