U.S. Futures, European Stocks Up
U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.4% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.3%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.3% in morning trading. UCB rose 17.8% and Financiere de Tubize rose 14.6%. On the other hand, Genmab slipped 3.5%, and Redcare Pharmacy dropped 3.1%. The FTSE 100 added 0.4%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 0.1% and Germany's DAX climbed 0.2%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index fell 0.3% to 95.26.
In commodities, Brent crude fell 1% to $68.53 a barrel, and WTI crude dropped 1.1% to $64.98 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 1.4% to 32.25 euros a megawatt hour.
The German 10-year Bund yield fell by 3 basis points to 2.724% from 2.754%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury declined by 3 basis points to 4.15% from 4.176%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index declined 0.7%, whereas Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 1.9%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 0.9%.
