Financials Up on Deal Activity — Financials Roundup
Shares of banks and other financial institutions rose amid deal activity.
Electronic Arts' $55 billion sale to a consortium led by investment firm Silver Lake, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and Jared Kushner's investment firm Affinity Partners will be the largest leveraged buyout in history, the latest sign that the Wall Street deal pipeline is flowing like seldom before following a long drought.
One strategist said investors' risk appetite may be curbed if the government shuts down and delays jobs data.
"If the data releases are postponed, [then] how can a data dependent Fed operate without data?" said J.D. Joyce, president of Houston financial advisory Joyce Wealth Management. "If we don't have data and we have a data dependent Fed, that's going to make the outlook that much more murkier."
