U.S. Futures, European Stocks Rise

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.5% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.4%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.5% in morning trading. Wolters Kluwer added 4.2% and Inchcape rose 4%. On the other hand, Continental lost 22.7%, and SIG Group fell 20.1%. The FTSE 100 added 0.1%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 0.7% and Germany's DAX climbed 1.1%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index climbed 0.1% to 94.45.

In commodities, Brent crude dropped 0.4% to $67.65 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 0.7% to $63.63 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was up 0.6% to 32.61 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 1 basis point to 2.681% from 2.674%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury fell by 3 basis points to 4.053% from 4.085%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 1.1%, whereas Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 1.4%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite declined 1.2%.
