Base Metals Mixed; Focus on Fed's Rate Decision -- Market Talk
0110 GMT - Base metal prices are mixed in early Asian trade. China's recent weak economic data failed to dent sentiment in the sector, ANZ Research analysts write in a report. "Instead, it is expectations of rate cuts by the Fed later this week that continues to support the sector," they say. Lower interest rates usually support copper and other metals, by increasing their demand and weakening the dollar. The three-month LME copper contract is 0.3% lower at $10,159.50/ton, aluminum is flat and nickel is 0.2% down.(amanda.lee@wsj.com)
