ATyr Pharma's Lead Program Misses Main Endpoint in Phase 3 Study
By Colin Kellaher
ATyr Pharma said a late-stage study of its lead clinical program didn't meet its main goal.
ATyr on Monday said the Phase 3 study of efzofitimod in the interstitial lung disease pulmonary sarcoidosis missed its primary endpoint of change from baseline in daily steroid doses at 48 weeks.
The San Diego clinical-stage biotechnology company said it believes drug activity for efzofitimod was evidenced by improvements across multiple clinically relevant efficacy endpoints, and that it plans to engage with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to review the study results and determine the path forward for efzofitimod in pulmonary sarcoidosis.
ATyr is also investigating efzofitimod in a Phase 2 study in patients with systemic sclerosis-related interstitial lung disease.
Trading in shares of aTyr, which closed Friday at $6.03, was halted premarket on Monday.
