U.S. Futures Flat, European Stocks Rise
U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were flat and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.6% in morning trading. Embracer Group Series B added 7.1% and UBS Group rose 6.8%. On the other hand, Coloplast Series B dropped 5.3%, and TeamViewer slipped 5.2%. The FTSE 100 added 1.2%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 0.6% and Germany's DAX climbed 0.4%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index rose 0.1% to 99.64.
In commodities, Brent crude gained 0.2% to $83.52 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 0.2% to $78.65 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 0.4% to EUR31.67 a megawatt hour.
The German 10-year Bund yield declined by 2 basis points to 2.454% from 2.474%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury fell by 2 basis points to 4.469% from 4.49%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 1.6%, whereas Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 0.5%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite climbed 0.2%.
