U.S. Futures, European Stocks Mixed
U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.2% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were flat. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 was flat in morning trading. ASM International rose 13.6% and Husqvarna Series B climbed 7.5%. On the other hand, Evotec slipped 20.9%, and Svenska Handelsbnkn Ser A lost 10.3%. The FTSE 100 added 0.3%. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France's CAC 40 declined 0.2% and Germany's DAX climbed 0.2%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index rose 0.1% to 100.24.
In commodities, Brent crude was flat at $87.39 a barrel, and WTI crude was flat at $83.39 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was up 2.4% to EUR29.11 a megawatt hour.
The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 2 basis points to 2.524% from 2.508%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by 2 basis points to 4.623% from 4.606%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were up as Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 2.4%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 2.1%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite climbed 0.8%.
