U.S. Futures, European Stocks Rise
U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.4% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.4%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.5% in morning trading. Embracer Group Series B rose 18.1% and Galp Energia added 17%. On the other hand, NKT sunk 3.8%, and Frontline fell 2.5%. The FTSE 100 added 1.2%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 gained 0.4% and Germany's DAX rose 0.6%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 100.5.
In commodities, Brent crude dropped 1.7% to $85.84 a barrel, and WTI crude dropped 1.8% to $80.78 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 3.1% to EUR29.8 a megawatt hour.
The German 10-year Bund yield was flat at 2.504%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by 1 basis point to 4.639% from 4.626%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 1%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng climbed 1.9%., whereas China's benchmark Shanghai Composite declined 0.7%.
