Trending: Explosion at Enel's Italian Hydro Plant

1103 GMT - Enel is among the most mentioned companies across news items over the past five hours, according to Factiva data, after an explosion at a hydroelectric power plant owned by the Rome-based energy group killed at least three people. A spokesman for the Italian fire brigade said five people were also injured and four are still missing and that the explosion was likely caused by a fire in a turbine or a transformer at the plant. "We do not expect a significant financial impact beyond the unavailability of the power plant," Capital Markets Equity Research analysts say in a note. However Equita analysts say "it is difficult to quantify the potential economic damages for Enel considering insurance coverage and the potential operation of one of the two units, as well as the repair time of the plant itself with the turbine replacement." Shares fall 0.1% to EUR5.82. Dow Jones & Co. owns Factiva. (helena.smolak@wsj.com)
