Adidas Sells More Yeezy Inventory
By Andrea Figueras
Adidas is selling another batch of Yeezy-branded sneakers from a collaboration with rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, that ended following the artist's spate of erratic behavior and antisemitic comments.
After severing ties with the rapper in 2022, the German athletic apparel and footwear company considered donating the shoes or stripping the Yeezy branding off them. However, it decided to sell the shoes and donate a portion of the proceeds to charities.
Its two Yeezy drops last year supported net sales by around 750 million euros ($811.7 million), according to its full-year report, and the sneaker maker said the decision not to write off the vast majority of its existing Yeezy inventory helped results in the fourth quarter.
It said Monday that it plans to release the remaining Yeezy inventory in the course of the year.
Yeezy inventory with a range of existing products, including the 350 V2, will be available in phases over the coming weeks across the world, the company said. "Availability and timing of release will vary depending on location," it said.
Adidas partnered with Ye in 2013 to design the line.
