Luminar, Mercedes-Benz Expand Partnership to Formula One
By Will Feuer
Luminar said it is expanding its partnership with Mercedes-Benz to integrate Luminar's LiDAR technology into the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team's official FIA F1 safety car.
The new technology has the ability to detect still and moving objects at high speeds and under wide ranging conditions, the companies said. They will work together to integrate Luminar's technology into the roofline of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.
Luminar said it has also developed new software features, including a fully automated valet-parking feature, that taps the company's LiDAR technology.
