Maxeon Solar Shares Rise 16% After Expanding Patent Dispute

By Ben Glickman

Shares of Maxeon Solar Technologies rose Thursday after the company expanded its patent infringement claims against Shanghai Aiko Solar Energy.

The stock was up 16% to $6.41 in midday trading. Shares are down 60% this year.

The Singapore-based solar panel maker said it had filed a request in the Netherlands for preliminary injunction proceedings related to patent infringement claims against an Aiko subsidiary.

The company in November initiated a patent dispute against Aiko in Germany.

Maxeon said it had also sent a cease-and-desist letter to Aiko and its German subsidiary related to claims made on Aiko's website that its patents offered complete protection.
