Uber Shares Rise on Upcoming S&P 500 Inclusion
By Sabela Ojea
Shares of Uber Technologies climbed 5.4% to $60.47 in after-hours trading after S&P Global said the ride-hailing company will be joining the S&P 500 index.
The San Francisco-based company will be included in the index prior to the start of trading on Dec. 18, S&P Dow Jones Indices said Friday.
Uber, along with Jabil and Builders FirstSource, will replace Sealed Air, Alaska Air Group and SolarEdge Technologies in the index.
Uber became eligible for inclusion in the index after recording two consecutive quarters of operating profit.
