Toronto Stocks Flat at Midday; Lundin Gold Rises on 3Q Production

Stocks in Toronto were near flat in midday trading on Friday, coming down from earlier highs in the morning.
September sales of existing homes in Canada dropped 1.9% from the previous month according to the Canadian Real Estate Association, though the decline was roughly half of that recorded in August.
Most sectors were trending lower in the session, with tech, process industries and commercials services the outsized laggards. Materials, energy and communications were the main of few gainers.
Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index was 0.09%, at 19517.75. The blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 was 0.01% higher, at 1172.67.
Shares of Lundin Gold were 9.4% higher, at 16.66 Canadian dollars (US$12.17), after the company said its back on track to meet its 2023 production guidance after reporting better-than-expected gold production of 112,212 ounces in the third quarter.
Other market movers:
Shares in Barrick Gold rose by 3.9%, to C$21.52, after it said it can restart operations at its site in Papua New Guinea after receiving a special mining lease from the country's governor general.
Genifi shares climbed 20%, to C$0.03, after the company said that it has licensed is digital identity platform.
