Trending: China Eastern to Buy 100 C919 Jets

1058 GMT - China Eastern Airlines is one of the most mentioned companies in the news over the past three hours, according to Factiva data, after the carrier said it will buy 100 C919 jets in a deal valued at $9.9 billion at list prices. The state-owned carrier, one of China's big three airlines, said it plans to take delivery of the planes from 2024 to 2031. The deal is on top of its existing order for five C919s. The aircraft, manufactured by Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China, known as Comac, could eventually compete with the single-aisle Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 families. China's homegrown passenger jet took its first commercial flight in May with China Eastern. Dow Jones & Co. owns Factiva. (farah.elias@wsj.com)
