H&M to Reopen Most of Its Stores in Ukraine

   By Mauro Orru

H&M plans to gradually reopen most of its stores in Ukraine starting in November, marking a return to the country after it paused sales there following Russia's invasion in February last year.

H&M Hennes & Mauritz, as the Swedish fashion retailer is formally known, stopped selling in Ukraine on Feb. 24 last year as Russian forces poured into the country, but the company has been in close contact with authorities and stakeholders there ever since as it sought to relaunch its business.

"During the period of preparation for reopening, the company continues to monitor developments in Ukraine closely," H&M said Wednesday. "The safety of colleagues and customers will always be the first and foremost priority."

Shortly after the invasion, H&M had also paused sales in Russia and Belarus, which supported Moscow in its offensive, and its operations in those two countries were fully wound down in November last year.
