Toronto Stocks Rise; NGEx Shares Climb on Increased Private Placement to Raise C$85 Million

Canadian stocks bounced back in midday trading on Friday. Most sectors were in the green, with tech, transportation and health tech leading the gains, offset slightly by the materials sector which was lower.

At midday, Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index was 0.59% higher at 20556.56 and the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 rose by 0.62% to 1234.44.

Shares in NGEx Minerals were 3.6% higher at 6.66 Canadian dollars ($5.06) after it said it increased its private placement due to strong demand to raise C$85 million Canadian dollars, more than doubling its original target earlier in the morning.

 

Other market movers:

Trulieve Cannabis said Friday that it has appointed the company's vice president of finance, Ryan Blust, to the role of interim chief financial officer. On the Canadian Securities Exchange, where the company trades, the stock was down 2.1% at C$5.57.
