Icelandair Finalizes Order for Up to 25 Airbus Aircraft

By Dominic Chopping

Icelandair said Thursday it has finalized a deal with Airbus to buy 13 A321XLR aircraft with a right to purchase up to 12 more.

The deal follows a previously announced memorandum of understanding and the carrier said deliveries are expected to start in 2029.

The purchase price wasn't disclosed and financing is yet to be determined, it said.

The airline said it has also finalized long-term lease agreements with SMBC Aviation Capital for four new A321LR aircraft, scheduled to be delivered from Airbus in the fourth quarter of 2024.
