Glance and Google Partner to Bring an AI-Powered Commerce Experience to Android TV™
Google and Glance, an AI-powered personal shopping platform backed by global technology company InMobi, today announced a partnership to enhance the television experience by bringing AI-powered commerce to Android TVs. The partnership will evolve the ambient screen from a passive backdrop into an interactive, AI-driven inspiration portal for shopping and discovery.
Launching across the United States, India, and Japan, this integration gives users a dynamic, opt-in ecosystem that serves as a personal lifestyle engine powered by an intelligent shopping agent.
From Passive to Purposeful
The partnership addresses an underutilized asset in the modern home: the TV screen during "off" hours. While traditional ambient modes offer limited utility, the Glance-powered experience turns the screen into a continuous discovery surface.
“We are moving beyond the era of the ‘dormant’ screen,” said Naveen Tewari, CEO and Founder at InMobi and Glance. “By combining the scale of Google’s Android TV ecosystem with Glance’s AI-first commerce models, we are turning the living room into a space where inspiration meets intent. Whether it’s fashion, home décor, or travel, we’re making shopping and discovery seamless, immersive, and interactive.”
A New Frontier for Consumer Value
The integration introduces a range of new capabilities designed to enhance the consumer lifestyle:
- AI-Powered Shopping Agent: A unified commerce layer across mobile and TV, allowing users to move from inspiration to intent instantly. Powered by hundreds of retailer integrations, the system acts as a personal concierge for curated products.
- Immersive Discovery: Consumers can explore high-definition content across fashion, travel, food, wellness, and other lifestyle categories. Using proprietary AI, the platform offers contextual lifestyle simulations and try-on visualizations.
- Shop the Look: Through Glance’s intelligent interface, users can interact with curated looks on their screen and purchase items directly through integrated retail partners.
- Consumer-First Control: The experience is entirely opt-in, ensuring that the shift from the default Google Backdrop to the Glance ambient experience is driven by user choice and value.
Global Scale and Strategic Impact
For Google, this partnership enhances the utility of the Android TV platform, turning it into an interactive lifestyle hub. For Glance, the collaboration marks a significant increase in its global distribution, building on existing partnerships with Airtel and DIRECTV to reach millions of households.
Availability
Glance is now available on supported Android TV devices in the United States, India and Japan.
