DM Injury Law Attorney Earns Commercial Driver's License to Better Represent Truck Accident Victims
Most attorneys study trucking cases from behind a desk. DM Injury Law attorney Ryan Watson decided to study them from behind the wheel. Watson has completed Kingdom Trucking Academy and earned his Missouri Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), giving him firsthand knowledge of the training, regulations, inspections, and daily safety responsibilities required of commercial truck drivers.
The achievement reflects DM Injury Law's ongoing commitment to understanding every aspect of the cases it handles, especially complex and fatal trucking and commercial vehicle crashes.
"Truck accident litigation is different from any other type of personal injury case," Watson said. "The regulations are more complex, the equipment is larger and more sophisticated, and the decisions drivers make every day are unlike those faced by regular drivers on the road. I wanted to understand that world firsthand so I can better advocate for people whose lives have been forever changed by serious truck crashes."
Commercial vehicle accidents often involve federal safety regulations, inadequately fulfilled driver qualifications, hours-of-service minimums, cargo securement requirements, and vehicle inspection protocols. Earning a CDL requires a multitude of efforts, including classroom instruction, vehicle inspections, backing maneuvers, road testing, and demonstrating proficiency in operating tractor-trailers under state and federal standards.
Watson believes experiencing the same training as professional truck drivers provides valuable perspective when evaluating trucking collisions, reviewing driver conduct and questioning witnesses during litigation.
"Knowing firsthand what is expected of these drivers helps me identify when safety standards were followed and when they weren't," Watson said. "That perspective benefits our clients, the victims."
Today, Watson represents personal injury clients throughout the Midwest, guiding them through every stage of the legal process from initial claim through resolution. He also works closely with DM Injury Law's regional offices and helps handle many of the firm's most technical and complex injury cases.
"Ryan has always believed that intense preparation wins cases," said Michael DiPasquale, founding partner of DM Injury Law. "This is a perfect example of that philosophy. He didn't earn a CDL because he wanted to drive trucks—he earned it because he wanted to better understand his clients and cases. That kind of commitment is uncommon but signals the type of dedication this firm gives to winning."
DM Injury Law serves clients throughout Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and beyond, representing victims of car accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle crashes, workplace injuries, wrongful death, and other personal injury matters. The firm is one of the nation's fastest-growing firms, dedicated to helping injury victims obtain the compensation they deserve.
