Vanguard Health Care is Under Review because manager Jean Hynes is going to become the CEO of subadvisor Wellington Management Company on June 30, 2021, when current CEO Brendan Swords retires. Hynes, who became a comanager on this strategy in 2008 before taking over as the sole skipper in 2013, will remain at the helm going forward. Hynes is quite seasoned and skilled. The overall healthcare team at Wellington is strong and includes Ann Gallo, Robert Deresiewicz, and Rebecca Sykes, who serve as managers on Hartford Healthcare HGHAX alongside Hynes. (Hynes is going to relinquish her manager role on that fund, which is also Under Review, on June 30, 2021.) Meanwhile, this strategy's sensible and appealing process will remain the same. But Hynes' upcoming assumption of the CEO role at Wellington is an important development that needs to be carefully assessed.
