T. Rowe Price recently announced that Ray Mills will give up his lead manager position on T. Rowe Price Overseas Stock and retire from the firm at the end of 2024. Elias Chrysostomou will replace Mills as the lead manager on this strategy at that time. The manager transition should be quite smooth. Chrysostomou has been contributing to this strategy as a financial-services analyst since he joined T. Rowe Price in 2019. He became an associate manager on this strategy in October 2023, and he will be promoted to comanager on April 1. Therefore, he will have ample knowledge of the strategy's process and portfolio by the time he takes over as the sole skipper on Jan. 1, 2025. Meanwhile, Chrysostomou is a seasoned investment professional. He previously worked at UBS Asset Management and Lazard Asset Management, and he has spent 22 years in the investment field overall. Most of his experience has been as an international financials analyst. But he served as a comanager on a global financials fund for roughly two years while he was at UBS, and he served as a comanager on an international financials paper portfolio for roughly one year at T. Rowe Price. And he will benefit from a sizable and strong support team when he is running the strategy on his own just as he and Mills do now. All that provides some grounds for optimism, but Mills has been at the helm as manager of the mutual fund and SMA versions of this strategy since they opened in late 2006 and early 2000, respectively, and he has delivered strong results over time. Thus, his departure at the end of 2024 is significant, and this strategy's Morningstar Analyst Rating has been placed under review.
