Comanager Paul Gordon will retire from MFS Mid Cap Growth on April 3, 2023, but his departure does not affect the strategy’s Morningstar Analyst Ratingsof Silver and Bronze. Gordon took a medical leave of absence at the beginning of 2023, so his retirement does not come as a big surprise. The strategy will continue to be well-resourced. MFS is deliberate about succession planning, and the firm appointed Eric Braz as a comanager in June 2021 alongside Eric Fischman. Gordon’s experience will certainly be missed, but Fischman has managed this strategy for more than 20 years. Braz has spent more than 15 years at MFS, and this is not his first portfolio management charge. He also comanages MFS Global New Discovery GLNAX. Fischman and Braz still have MFS’ skilled central research team at their disposal, which they lean on heavily. Given Braz's recent appointment, we do not expect MFS to backfill Gordon’s role in the near future.
