Effective July 1, 2026, Brad Mak will join MFS Mid Cap Growth as a comanager alongside Eric Fischman and Eric Braz. Then, effective April 30, 2027, Fischman will step down from the strategy and retire. While Fischman’s departure will be a loss, Mak is a familiar face, and the long lead time should make for a smooth transition. Its Morningstar Medalist Rating is unchanged. This fund compiled a decent track record over Fischman's tenure as a comanager. From his November 2008 start through March 2026, the institutional shares’ 13.9% annualized return trailed the Russell Midcap Growth Index’s 15.1% rise but beat more than 60% of its mid-growth Morningstar Category rivals. While his experience will be missed, Braz—a comanager since 2021—remains, and Mak should be able to get up to speed quickly. He brings more than 20 years of industry experience and comanages this strategy’s large-cap sibling MFS Growth, which shares a similar investment process and likewise gets solid support from MFS' central research team.
